Punjab Emergency Service conducts water rescue exercises at Rawal Dam to enhance readiness for flash flooding and drowning incidents before monsoon season.

Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 Murree recently conducted a series of water rescue drills at Rawal Dam, as directed by Secretary Emergency Services Dr Rizwan Naseer and the District Disaster Management Authority. These exercises were carried out in anticipation of the upcoming pre-monsoon season to ensure that rescue teams are prepared for potential natural disasters.

The primary objective of these drills was to bolster the readiness, rapid response, and professional capabilities of the rescue teams. The exercises focused on preparing them to handle flash flooding, rising water levels in streams and canals, as well as incidents involving drowning.

During the training sessions, practical demonstrations were conducted for search and rescue operations, including rescue activities in fast-flowing water. Participants also received hands-on experience with the use of rescue boats and ropes. Additionally, all water rescue equipment was thoroughly inspected to ensure it is in optimal condition.

These comprehensive drills not only tested the current capabilities of the emergency service teams but also provided valuable training that will be crucial as the monsoon season approaches. By conducting such exercises, Punjab Emergency Service aims to minimize risks and enhance the safety of communities along the dam and its surrounding areas.
