Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz directs foolproof security arrangements, metal detectors installation, and strict implementation of SOPs during Chand Raat and Eidul Azha.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has directed authorities to ensure comprehensive security measures across the province on the eve of Eid. At a meeting, she emphasized the need for stringent security protocols, including the installation of metal detectors and walk-through gates at congregation venues. Assistant commissioners have been tasked with briefing religious scholars about government security and cleanliness initiatives.

The CM also ordered extra security arrangements at sensitive locations and directed patrolling in markets during Chand Raat, with women police personnel deployed. Real-time monitoring through the Safe City Authority system has been mandated for security operations. Additionally, she instructed officials to enforce a ban on camps established by proscribed organizations that collect sacrificial hides.

Maryam Nawaz further directed district police officers to visit their areas and ensure compliance with the ban on firing and display of weapons. The home secretary Eid prayers would be offered at 38,507 locations across Punjab. Section 144 has been imposed to prohibit siri paye roasting in public places, while authorities will take action against those disposing animal remains in drains and public areas.

In a related development, more than 4,000 personnel have been deployed by the Punjab Police for security at 222 cattle markets across the province. In Lahore alone, over 600 personnel are assigned to six markets. IG Abdul Kareem highlighted that comprehensive measures should be in place to ensure the safety of traders and buyers.

No cattle market will be allowed except at points approved by district administrations, with legal action taken against illegal markets and sale points. The CM’s directives underscore a commitment to maintaining public order and safety during this significant religious observance.
