Ministry of Defence Production hosts interactive session on drone technology at Directorate General Research and Development Establishment, focusing on coordination between public and private sectors.
The Ministry of Defence Production hosted an interactive session on drone technology at its Directorate General Research and Development Establishment in Rawalpindi. The event brought together leading private-sector firms involved in the manufacturing and development of unmanned aerial systems (UAS). The session was chaired by Secretary Defence Production, Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Chiragh Haider, as stated in a press release.
The primary focus of the interactive session was to strengthen coordination between the public and private sectors in the rapidly evolving field of drone warfare and surveillance technologies. Participants observed that recent global conflicts have underscored the critical role drones play in modern warfare, intelligence gathering, border monitoring, and precision operations.
During the event, participating companies presented their concerns, operational challenges, and recommendations directly to MODP officials. Secretary Defence Production assured participants that these useful recommendations would be incorporated into future policy formulations aimed at promoting a sustainable domestic drone ecosystem. Additionally, MoDP is committed to providing regulatory procedures, testing infrastructure, procurement mechanisms, and research support.
The session concluded with a shared commitment from all parties to enhance cooperation between state institutions and private technology firms in order to accelerate the development of locally produced unmanned aerial capabilities that align with emerging security requirements, which have become a national priority for Pakistan.
