Commissioner Aamir Khattak directs strict facilities at Rawalpindi cattle markets ahead of Eid-ul-Adha 2026.

Commissioner Aamir Khattak, the commissioner of Rawalpindi, has directed concerned authorities to ensure maximum facilities at all cattle markets across the division. These include foolproof security measures, clean drinking water, adequate lighting, cleanliness, CCTV surveillance, monitoring of entry and exit points, and an effective traffic management system.

The commissioner chaired a meeting on Thursday to review arrangements for cattle markets being established ahead of Eid-ul-Adha 2026. He emphasized the need for strict implementation of Section 144 across all districts to enforce a complete ban on the sale of sacrificial animals outside notified points.

According to officials, government cattle markets would remain operational round the clock from May 16 until Eid-ul-Adha. Three new cattle markets are planned in Attock District at sites along Main Peshawar Road, Main Pindi Gheb Road, and near Civil Hospital on CPEC Link Road. In Chakwal District, a market will be set up at Chak Naurang Stop on the Main Chakwal-Rawalpindi Road, while Talagang District will have a market on Mianwali Road Main Bypass.

Additionally, another cattle market is planned for Mangal Bypass near Kallar Syedan in Rawalpindi District. Besides these government-run markets, traditional cattle markets are expected to continue operating on their designated days. District administrations have identified special sale points where the buying and selling of sacrificial animals would be permitted, while unauthorized locations would remain banned.

In Rawalpindi District, eight sale points have been notified by the district administration, including plots near Bhatta Chowk, Mouza Sheikhpur, Mouza Ranial on Chakri Road, and near Rawat Police Station on GT Road in Rawalpindi Cantt. Other notified sale points include Mazhaba Khana Galiana Road in Gujar Khan, near Sharif Hospital Stop on GT Road in Taxila, HIT near Hathar Bazaar Timber Market Road in Taxila, Bypass Chowk Kayal in Kallar Syedan, and Sakhi Sabz Wari Tangi Road in Kahuta.

Additional Commissioner Coordination Zenia Humayun, Director Local Government Sibtain Kazmi, the chief officer of Municipal Corporation Rawalpindi, and other relevant officials attended the meeting. Deputy commissioners from Attock, Jhelum, Murree, and Chakwal joined through video link.
