WASA accelerates monsoon preparations to ensure effective drainage in Lahore ahead of the rainy season.
The Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) in Lahore has intensified its efforts to prepare for the upcoming monsoon season. The agency is focusing on enhancing drainage systems across the city to prevent flooding and maintain water flow during heavy rainfall. WASA officials have been actively working with local authorities and contractors to identify potential weak points in existing infrastructure and implement necessary repairs and upgrades.
"We are taking proactive measures to ensure that our drainage networks can handle the increased volume of water expected during the monsoon," said Dr. Muhammad Ali, Director General of WASA Lahore. "Our goal is to minimize any disruptions caused by flooding and provide a safe environment for residents."
The preparations include regular inspections of culverts, sewers, and other critical infrastructure. WASA has also been engaging with communities in affected areas to gather feedback on existing drainage issues and incorporate community suggestions into their plans.
"We are committed to working closely with the public to address any concerns they may have regarding our preparedness," added Dr. Ali. "Our priority is to ensure that everyone can enjoy a safe and comfortable rainy season."
WASA has also launched awareness campaigns in schools and neighborhoods, educating residents about how to prepare for heavy rainfall and what actions to take during such events.
"The safety of our citizens is paramount, and we are doing everything within our power to safeguard them," Dr. Ali emphasized. "We urge all residents to stay informed and follow the guidelines provided by WASA."
These measures come as a response to historical patterns indicating that Lahore often experiences significant flooding during the monsoon season. By taking these proactive steps, WASA aims to mitigate potential damage and ensure smoother operations throughout the rainy months.
As the monsoon approaches, residents are encouraged to report any issues with drainage systems or other infrastructure problems directly to WASA's customer service center for immediate attention.
