Pakistan's Berlin embassy hosts discussion on bilateral relations, climate cooperation, media engagement, and skilled workforce collaboration.
The meeting was held at the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin, where participants discussed various aspects of Pakistan-Germany ties. The event was attended by Ambassador Saqlain Syedah, Ambassador Mian Mubeen Akhtar, Tariq Usmani from the Rawalpindi Islamabad Union of Journalists, Zahoor Ahmed from the Pakistan-German Press Club, and a university student Muhammad Anwar Ul Haq.
Ambassador Saqlain Syedah highlighted the longstanding diplomatic relationship between Pakistan and Germany, emphasizing the country's significant role in various sectors such as trade, education, healthcare, industrial growth, energy infrastructure, and technical cooperation. She also underscored Germany’s importance in Pakistan's development over a period of 75 years.
During the meeting, discussions centered around strengthening economic and trade ties with Germany. Participants agreed that there was potential for further collaboration to enhance bilateral relations. Additionally, the need for climate change cooperation was highlighted, focusing on developing initiatives to address environmental challenges and build climate resilience.
The ambassador praised Mian Mubeen Akhtar for his efforts in bridging the gap between the overseas Pakistani community in Germany and the embassy. He commended the positive cooperation between the Pakistani community and the embassy, which has played a crucial role in promoting a stronger image of Pakistan internationally.
Mian Mubeen Akhtar expressed appreciation for the historic achievement of dual nationality rights for overseas Pakistanis in Germany, noting that this decision fulfills a long-held dream of the Pakistani diaspora. He highlighted how it provides legal certainty and preserves vital connections to their homeland while allowing them to integrate into German society.
Tariq Usmani appreciated the embassy staff's efforts in addressing the concerns and issues faced by overseas Pakistanis. Zahoor Ahmed emphasized the constructive relationship between the Embassy of Pakistan in Berlin and the Pakistani media community operating in Germany, stressing that these professionals play a positive role in highlighting community issues, strengthening communication, and promoting Pakistan’s image internationally.
Student Muhammad Anwar Ul Haq, currently pursuing his master's degree in Environmental Planning at a prestigious German university, emphasized the need for increased awareness, technical collaboration, and future-focused environmental policies to address the growing climate crisis. The delegation also met with Ali Shahid, First Secretary, and Sarwar Hussain, Head of Chancellor, who provided a detailed tour of various sections and departments within the embassy.
This meeting aimed to foster mutual understanding and cooperation between Pakistan and Germany in multiple areas, contributing to their ongoing relationship and addressing common challenges such as climate change.
