Punjab announces Rs50,000 fine for illegal offal disposal during Eid. CM warns of strict action and helpline 1139 is launched.
Punjab Chief Minister (CM) announced on Monday that violators will face a hefty Rs50,000 fine for disposing offal and other animal organs illegally near railway tracks and public places during the upcoming Eid celebrations. The announcement comes in response to numerous complaints received by the government regarding unsanitary conditions.
The CM emphasized that such actions not only pose health risks but also tarnish the religious spirit of the festival. To address these concerns, a helpline number 1139 has been launched for citizens to report any illegal offal disposal activities promptly.
Additionally, plans are in place to spray rose water at Eid prayer gatherings and mosques across the province to create a more pleasant atmosphere during the holy days. The government aims to ensure that all public spaces remain clean and hygienic as people prepare to celebrate Eid with their families and communities.
The CM's directive is part of an ongoing campaign to improve sanitation standards in urban areas, particularly around sensitive religious sites like mosques and railway tracks. This initiative reflects Punjab’s commitment to maintaining high levels of hygiene during major festivals and ensuring that citizens have a safe environment for worship and celebration.
