A man and his son were shot dead during an alleged ambush near Dhok Lohdara in Mahandar area, linked to a long-standing land dispute.
A tragic incident unfolded on May 26 when Muhammad Afzal and his son Sabeel lost their lives in what appears to be an ambush related to a protracted land dispute. The event took place near Dhok Lohdara village within the jurisdiction of Mandra Police Station, Mahandar area.
According to details provided by police, Afzal and his brother Javed, along with relatives Sabeel, Luqman, and Muhammad Zain, were on their way back home from visiting a cousin in Tharjial village. The family was returning late at night when they encountered armed suspects near a brick kiln in Dhok Lohdara. The suspects, identified as Ghulam Rasool and Haroon, allegedly ambushed the group with Kalashnikov rifles and other modern weapons.
Afzal claimed that his brother Javed and his son Sabeel were killed on the spot due to the indiscriminate gunfire. The attackers fled without being apprehended, leaving behind their weapons as evidence of their involvement. Afzal alleged that the killings were a result of an ongoing land dispute and litigation between his family and the suspects.
The complainant further Ghulam Rasool, Haroon, and several accomplices, including Zahoor Ahmad, Ghafoor Ahmad, Muhammad Khawar, and Eizan, had conspired to murder Javed and Sabeel. The police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the suspects and are investigating the case.
This incident highlights the dangerous consequences of unresolved land disputes in rural areas, where personal vendettas can escalate into deadly confrontations.
