Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended austerity measures aimed at reducing fuel consumption until June 13 to address the ongoing fuel crisis amid the US-Iran conflict. The Cabinet Division notified that these measures include a 50% reduction in fuel provision for official vehicles, with 60% of them grounded and a ban on foreign visits and travel except for essential national interests. Other unspecified measures will remain in force until further notice. President Asif Zardari directed maximum relief to the people despite regional tensions. Earlier, PM Shehbaz announced energy conservation measures such as a four-day work week, reduced salaries for some government officials, and bans on vehicle purchases by departments.
