In a bold social media statement, former US President Donald Trump has demanded the immediate cancellation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s corruption trial. Writing on Truth Social, Trump called Netanyahu a “great hero” and claimed that just as the United States saved Israel, it will now “save” Netanyahu.

Netanyahu faces long-standing corruption charges, including bribery, fraud, and breach of trust, stemming from three separate criminal cases. Indicted in 2019, he has denied all allegations, and his trial, which began in 2020, has seen extensive legal proceedings. Cross-examination resumed earlier this month and is expected to last up to a year.

Trump described the legal proceedings as a politically motivated “witch hunt,” echoing his defense strategy in his own legal battles. He insisted that Netanyahu’s contributions to Israel’s strength and survival justify an immediate pardon or cancellation of the trial.

“The trial should be CANCELLED, IMMEDIATELY, or a pardon given to a great hero,” Trump posted, urging Israeli leadership to act. While Israeli President Isaac Herzog has the constitutional authority to issue a pardon, reports confirm no such request has been made.

Trump also linked his remarks to broader US-Israel relations, referencing Washington’s military and diplomatic support, particularly concerning operations targeting Iran’s nuclear capabilities. “It was the United States that saved Israel, and now it is going to be the United States that saves Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump declared.

However, the former president also expressed frustration over Israel’s recent airstrikes on Iran, which occurred immediately after a proposed ceasefire deal. “They’ve been fighting so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,” Trump added, in his typically blunt fashion.

The comments have reignited debates around Netanyahu’s trial, US-Israel diplomacy, and Trump’s ongoing influence in Middle Eastern geopolitics.
