India's Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the youngest to score a century in IPL, is among 15 players named for India A's upcoming one-day tri-series against Sri Lanka and Afghanistan.

India's Vaibhav Sooryavanshi celebrated his maiden century during the Asia Cup Rising Stars match against UAE on November 14, 2025. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a 15-member squad for India A's one-day tri-series against hosts Sri Lanka and Afghanistan earlier this week.

Sooryavanshi marked his maiden call-up to the national team, having made an indelible impact last year during the Indian Premier League (IPL). His 35-ball century for Rajasthan Royals in the IPL inaugural season was not only a remarkable feat but also set him apart as the youngest player to score such a high run tally in the lucrative league.

Sooryavanshi's prowess extended beyond the IPL. He played a crucial role in India's ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup triumph earlier this year, particularly during their final match against England. His swashbuckling 175 off just 80 deliveries showcased his batting skills and helped propel India to victory.

In addition to Sooryavanshi, the squad also includes other talented players such as Tilak Varma, who has been named captain for the upcoming tri-series. Riyan Parag will serve as his deputy in this role. These two are the only players in the squad with prior experience representing the senior men's team.

The India A squad is rounded out by Ayush Badoni, Nishant Sindhu, Harsh Dubey, Suryansh Shedge, Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper), and Kumar Kushagra (another wicketkeeper). Anshul Kamboj, a batting all-rounder, and Arshad Khan complete the squad.

India A's campaign will kick off against Sri Lanka A on June 9. They will then face Afghanistan A on June 12 before concluding their league stage with a match against Sri Lanka A on June 19. The final of the tri-series is scheduled for June 21.

The inclusion of Sooryavanshi in this squad underscores his rapid rise through the ranks and highlights India's commitment to nurturing young talent. His performance during the ICC U19 World Cup further cements his status as a promising player who could make significant contributions at the senior level in the future.
