Calum McFarlane, interim manager of Chelsea, dismisses speculation about his permanent successor and focuses on the team's quest for an FA Cup victory.

Chelsea caretaker manager Calum McFarlane dismissed recent speculation regarding his potential permanent role at the club, emphasizing that his sole focus remains on ending their domestic trophy drought in Saturday's FA Cup final against Manchester City. The Blues have not won a major trophy since their 2018 FA Cup triumph over Manchester United.

McFarlane's side has struggled in recent domestic finals, having lost six appearances at Wembley. Despite English media reports linking Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and other high-profile candidates to the Stamford Bridge vacancy, McFarlane maintained that his attention is solely on preparing Chelsea for Saturday’s match.

The interim manager received a boost in squad availability with defenders Reece James and Levi Colwill both training fully this week after successful rehabilitation periods. "Reece trained well this week, happy with him," McFarlane said. "It's the same story with Levi Colwill. We are hopeful they can finish the season in this form."

The manager also confirmed that attackers Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho, along with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, have shown "positive signs" in training and are expected to be available for the Wembley showdown.

Despite City’s exceptional squad and Pep Guardiola's tactical prowess, McFarlane was adamant that his team can cause an upset. "City are an exceptional side with an exceptional coach, but these players have shown that if they're at their best, they can beat anyone," he said.

Chelsea fans will be hoping for a historic victory as the club looks to end its domestic trophy drought and secure a significant win in front of their home crowd.
