LAHORE: The provincial government in Punjab has announced summer vacations for schools across the province due to severe heatwave conditions, effective from May 22 until August 23.
The Education Department issued a notification stating that all schools will be closed during this period to protect students and teachers' health. Classes are set to resume on August 24.
Minister for Education Rana Sikandar Hayat made the announcement, citing the increasing heat intensity as the primary reason for the extended break.
The decision aims to safeguard the well-being of students and staff in the face of potential heatwave risks. The holiday schedule is expected to benefit over 10 million schoolchildren in Punjab.
