Provincial Minister for Communications and Works emphasizes need to improve performance of department, ensuring quality projects and infrastructure development.

Provincial Minister for Communications and Works, Mir Saleem Ahmed Khosa, underscored the importance of enhancing the performance of the Communications and Works (C&W) Department. In a meeting chaired by him in Quetta district, he assured that all technical issues faced by the department are being addressed with priority. The minister highlighted the critical role of infrastructure development in the province’s progress.

During the progress review session attended by Secretary Communications and Works Babar Khan and Chief Engineer Quetta Zone Abdul Rahim Bangulzai, engineering officers presented detailed briefings on ongoing road and building sector projects. Minister Khosa emphasized that no compromise would be tolerated regarding project quality. He directed all officers to strictly enforce quality control measures, including laboratory testing of materials and thorough inspections before handing over completed projects.

Khosa instructed sub-engineers to remain present at project sites to ensure proper monitoring and prevent any lapses in standards. He warned contractors found guilty of negligence or using substandard materials that strict action would be taken against them. Additionally, he directed chief engineers and superintending engineers to personally review the progress on ongoing schemes.

“Quality must be maintained without even a one percent compromise,” Khosa stated, adding that he was closely monitoring the projects and expected officers to ensure continuous oversight. He underscored the importance of infrastructure in both road and building sectors, noting that providing these facilities to the people is the responsibility of the Communications and Works Department. Fulfilling this responsibility with excellence should be their mission.

The minister’s remarks came as part of a broader effort to improve the performance of the C&W Department and ensure that development projects meet high standards. His directive aims to uphold the department's reputation for delivering quality infrastructure, which is essential for the province's growth and prosperity.
