Kohat University of Science and Technology's Nursing Department approved 150 new seats, thanks to efforts by Jamila Paracha and federal support.
The long-pending issue concerning the Nursing Department of Kohat University of Science and Technology (KUST) has been resolved after the approval of a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for 150 seats. This resolution followed interventions from both the nursing community and provincial health committee member Jamila Paracha. The matter had remained unresolved for several months despite repeated appeals by students and departmental representatives.
Official sources the approval was widely welcomed by students, parents, and faculty members, who had been raising concerns over delays affecting academic activities and future professional opportunities for nursing students. The approval came after Jamila Paracha raised the issue during a Human Resource Management meeting held on May 7 and later at the Health Committee forum.
Sources indicated that her efforts at both provincial and federal levels played a key role in securing the long-awaited approval. Additionally, the federal government extended support to facilitate this process. Students and teachers hailed the approval as "historic," emphasizing its potential to strengthen nursing education in southern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and create greater opportunities for aspiring healthcare professionals.
The resolution marks a significant step forward for nursing education at KUST, addressing years of bureaucratic hurdles that had hindered academic progress. This development is expected to enhance both the quality and accessibility of nursing programs in the region, benefiting future generations of healthcare providers.
