Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan on Tuesday presided over the 7th convocation of Government College Women University Sialkot, where 3,635 female students were awarded degrees, while 98 outstanding graduates received gold and silver medals. Addressing the ceremony, Governor Haider Khan emphasized that education is incomplete without high moral character.

He highlighted the significant role played by Fatima Jinnah in the Pakistan Movement and praised Benazir Bhutto’s struggle against dictatorship for raising the pride of women. He stressed that after acquiring education, students should apply their abilities in practical life, as education alone is not sufficient; it must be accompanied by a strong moral character.

Governor Haider Khan commended the impressive number of female students at Women University Sialkot and praised Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Shazia Bashir for her commendable role in this achievement. He noted that the increasing inclination of women toward education is encouraging, with nearly four thousand graduates representing a matter of pride.

In her address, Vice Chancellor Dr Shazia Bashir stated that the university currently offers 59 degree programs under four faculties and has operationalized ten departments at the new Imam Bibi Campus. She also mentioned that the institution has signed over 110 agreements with industries, government institutions, and educational organizations, while publishing more than 700 research papers in the academic year 2024-25.
