Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to preserving and promoting Pakistan’s rich cultural heritage. In a statement marking the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development observed on May 21, he emphasized that cultural diversity remains a vital source of national unity, social harmony, and sustainable development. "Cultural heritage is not just about ancient artifacts; it's about our shared history, traditions, and values," Sharif said. "By safeguarding these treasures, we ensure the continuity of our nation’s identity and foster a sense of belonging among all citizens."
The prime minister highlighted several initiatives undertaken by his government to preserve Pakistan’s cultural heritage. These include restoring historical sites, supporting local artisans, and promoting traditional arts and crafts through educational programs. He also announced plans for new projects aimed at documenting and preserving the country's diverse cultural expressions.
Sharif stressed that cultural diversity is crucial not only for national cohesion but also for economic growth and international relations.
