Pakistan reaffirms support for a sovereign, independent Palestinian state with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds as capital, Prime Minister Sharif says.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif emphasized Saturday that Pakistan will continue to stand by the creation of a sovereign, independent, viable, and contiguous Palestinian State based on pre-June 1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif designated as its capital. This commitment underscores Islamabad's unwavering support for Palestinian aspirations.

The statement came during a regional summit where Sharif discussed ongoing peace efforts aimed at resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s role in fostering dialogue and cooperation between Israel and Palestine, emphasizing the importance of a two-state solution that respects both parties' rights and needs.

"This is not just about supporting one side or another; it's about ensuring a future where Palestinians can live freely and peacefully alongside their neighbors," Sharif said. "Pakistan will continue to work with its regional partners to achieve this goal."

The Prime Minister also highlighted the significance of international support for Palestinian statehood, noting that such recognition is crucial for fostering stability in the region. He called on all nations to uphold their commitments under international law and UN resolutions regarding Palestine.

"This reaffirmation comes at a critical juncture where peace talks are ongoing," Sharif added. "We must not lose sight of our shared responsibility to ensure lasting peace and prosperity for both Israelis and Palestinians."

Pakistan's stance reflects its long-standing commitment to the Palestinian cause, aligning with global efforts toward resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Prime Minister’s remarks underscore Pakistan’s role as a mediator in regional diplomacy and its dedication to supporting a just resolution that respects international law and human rights.

This reaffirmation of support for a sovereign, viable Palestinian state is expected to further bolster diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the Middle East.
