Police produced alleged drug peddler Anmol alias Pinky without handcuffs at a court in Karachi, sparking criticism and an inquiry into the violation of standard operating procedures. Police produced Anmol alias Pinky, described as a "drug peddler," before a local judicial magistrate (South) in Karachi on May 12, 2026. According to police, Pinky was arrested in Karachi's Garden area the day prior and is a highly wanted suspect involved in 10 different drug-related cases.
The police stated that around Rs1.5 million worth of weapons, cocaine, and other drugs were recovered from her custody. Pinky allegedly operated a network for drug supply in the port city and used female riders to distribute drugs online across Karachi. After hearing both sides, the judicial magistrate ordered Pinky's remand in jail.
In response to this incident, Karachi Additional Inspector General of Police (AIG) Azad Khan launched an inquiry into the violation of standard operating procedures (SOPs). The video showing Pinky being escorted by police officials without handcuffs has sparked widespread criticism on social media platforms. A spokesperson for the Karachi police chief reported that AIG Azad took notice of this incident and ordered an investigation to determine the role of relevant officers.
Furthermore, Sindh Inspector General of Police Javed Alam Odho also expressed concern over the matter and sought a detailed report from the Karachi AIG. He ordered the immediate suspension of the investigation officer and staff found guilty of negligence. Additionally, he directed the formation of an investigation committee comprising senior officers to ensure a transparent probe into the incident.
