Lawlessness grips Bannu as armed robbers loot bank cash van, emergency worker disappears, and security supplies are hijacked in Pakistan.
The atmosphere of fear and lawlessness in Bannu and its surrounding areas has deepened further after a series of brazen attacks across the district. Armed robbers looted a bank cash van near Sparka Chowk in the Domel area on Tuesday evening, making off with over Rs80 million in cash along with four rifles and a pistol from the security personnel deployed with the van. Fortunately, the bank staff and the vehicle itself remained unharmed in this incident.
In a separate development, Saqibur Rehman, an Emergency Medical Technician with Rescue 1122 Bannu, has gone missing under mysterious circumstances. Sources say he hails from the Mambati Barakzai area and has been untraceable since approximately 4 pm on Tuesday. Family members his mobile phone remains switched off, and all attempts to contact him have failed. While authorities have been notified and local residents are joining search efforts, no confirmed information about his whereabouts was available at the time of filing this report.
These incidents highlight the growing insecurity in Bannu, where security forces continue to face challenges from armed groups operating with impunity. The hijacking of ration supplies for security forces underscores the dire need for robust measures to restore law and order in the region. Authorities are urging residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with the investigation into these heinous crimes.
The situation has left many residents feeling vulnerable, as they struggle to navigate through a period marked by increasing criminal activities. Local authorities have intensified their efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice. However, the persistence of such attacks raises concerns about the effectiveness of current security measures in safeguarding public safety.
