Pakistani Passport Ranked Among Weakest Globally
The Henley Passport Index’s 2025 global rankings have placed Pakistan’s passport as the fourth weakest worldwide. It shares the 96th position alongside Yemen and Somalia.
Citizens holding a Pakistani passport are granted visa-free entry to only 32 destinations around the world.
The annual passport ranking is compiled by a UK-based advisory firm specializing in citizenship and residency. The index assesses the visa-free access afforded by 199 different passports to a total of 227 travel destinations.
Regionally, China is ranked 60th, India holds the 77th position, and Iran is placed at 91 in the global rankings.
Singapore has the most powerful passport, providing visa-free access to 193 destinations out of 227, according to the firm’s recent announcement.
Asian countries dominate the rankings, with Japan and South Korea in 2nd place, allowing their citizens visa-free entry to 190 destinations.
Several European countries also feature prominently in the Top 5. Seven EU member passports are in 3rd place – Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain – all providing access to 189 destinations.
Another seven European nations offer visa-free entry to 188 destinations and jointly hold 4th position: Austria, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden. New Zealand, the only non-European country to challenge the continent’s dominance, is tied in 5th place with Greece and Switzerland.
At the bottom of the index, Afghanistan remains the lowest-ranked passport, with its citizens able to access only 25 destinations without needing a visa. This represents a substantial difference of 168 destinations compared to the highest-ranked passport.
