Trump Proposes UFC Event at White House for Anniversary

DES MOINES: Former US President Donald Trump has suggested an ambitious plan to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026 with a UFC event held on the White House grounds.

Trump, who has a long-standing relationship with UFC President Dana White, made the announcement during a speech at the Iowa State Fairgrounds on Thursday. The event served as a prelude to Independence Day festivities.

During his address, Trump commended White and raised the possibility of staging a championship fight on the White House lawn, asserting that the venue could hold between 20,000 and 25,000 attendees.

“Does anybody watch UFC?” Trump inquired of the audience.

“The remarkable Dana White — we’re contemplating hosting a UFC fight on the White House grounds. We have ample space there. Dana is on board. He’s exceptional—truly unique. We envision a championship-caliber UFC fight, accommodating approximately 20,000 to 25,000 individuals. This would be a highlight of the 250th-anniversary celebrations.”

Trump indicated that the 250th anniversary commemoration would feature various activities, encompassing both professional and amateur events, with the UFC fight as a featured attraction.

Trump has been a regular presence at UFC events, including the recent UFC 316 card in New Jersey, where numerous fighters approached him inside the octagon. White has frequently expressed his support for Trump, speaking on his behalf at the Republican National Convention and during campaign rallies leading up to the 2020 election. As of now, the UFC has not provided any official confirmation.
