Thailand Anticipates Economic Fluctuations Due to Tariffs
Thailand’s Finance Minister announced on Thursday that the nation’s economy is likely to experience temporary disruptions as a result of tariff impacts. The country is actively planning negotiations to bring its tariff structure more in line with those of its trade rivals.
Pichai Chunhavajira stated at a ministry function that achieving tariff parity with competitors would neutralize potential adverse effects, regardless of the ultimate tariff level.
He further expressed confidence that their proposed strategies would lead to desired outcomes.
Thailand stands as one of the Southeast Asian countries most significantly affected by measures imposed by the U.S. President. It potentially faces a 36% tariff if a negotiated reduction isn’t reached before the expiration of a U.S. moratorium in July.
