Sri Lankan Stocks Close Lower Amid Sectoral Shifts

Sri Lankan equities concluded Monday’s trading session with a decline, as downturns in the information technology and consumer discretionary sectors overshadowed gains in the energy and financial sectors.

The CSE All-Share index concluded the day at 15,599.61 points, a decrease of 0.11%.

According to recent data released on Monday, Sri Lanka’s consumer prices experienced a 1.9% decrease year-over-year in March.

Ceylon Beverage Holdings and Lion Brewery registered the most significant losses in index points, falling by 71 points and 42.75 points, respectively.

The index’s trading volume increased to 42.36 million shares, compared to 33.34 million shares in the prior session.

Turnover in the equity market expanded to 1.17 billion Sri Lankan rupees, up from 841 million rupees in the previous session, exchange data revealed.

Foreign investors emerged as net buyers, acquiring stocks valued at 34.02 million rupees, while domestic investors were net sellers, divesting shares worth 1.14 billion rupees, as indicated by the data.
