In preparation for Hajj 2025, the Saudi Ministry of Interior has announced new entry regulations for the holy city of Makkah, effective from April 23, 2025. These measures aim to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims during the sacred season.
Key Entry Requirements:
- Valid Documentation: Individuals seeking entry into Makkah must present one of the following:
- A valid work permit
- A residency ID issued from Makkah
- A valid Hajj permit
- Restriction on Foreign Residents: Foreign residents living in other parts of Saudi Arabia are prohibited from entering Makkah unless they obtain the appropriate permit. Those attempting unauthorized entry will be turned back at checkpoints such as Al Shumaisi.
Umrah Permit Suspension:
- Nusuk Platform: The issuance of Umrah permits via the “Nusuk” platform will be suspended from April 29 to June 10, 2025.
- Visa Restrictions: Starting April 29, individuals holding any visa type other than an official Hajj visa will be barred from entering or staying in Makkah.
Final Dates for Umrah Performers:
- Entry Deadline: Sunday, April 13, 2025
- Departure Deadline: Tuesday, April 29, 2025
Failure to depart by the specified date will be considered a violation of regulations.
Employment-Related Entry:
Foreign nationals required to enter Makkah or surrounding holy sites for employment purposes must apply for travel permits through the relevant portals.
These regulations are part of Saudi Arabia’s efforts to manage the influx of pilgrims and maintain order during the Hajj season.
