Crystal Palace Secures Yeremy Pino in £26m Deal
Crystal Palace, an English football team, has reportedly reached an agreement with Villarreal for Spanish winger Yeremy Pino in a transaction valued at £26 million, according to international reports that surfaced on Wednesday.
Media sources indicate that the 22-year-old player is expected to travel to Selhurst Park shortly to undergo a medical examination.
Despite a release clause of £69 million attached to Pino, Villarreal has reportedly accepted Palace’s offer due to the player’s contract having less than two years remaining.
This move for Pino follows the anticipated £60 million transfer of England forward Eberechi Eze from Palace to Arsenal last week.
Eze, 27, proved pivotal for Palace last season, as he scored 14 goals and provided 11 assists in 43 appearances, aiding the team’s FA Cup victory, their first major title.
Notably, Oliver Glasner, manager of The Eagles, conveyed his desire to secure new signings before the transfer deadline after the 1-1 draw between Palace and Nottingham Forest this past weekend.
This summer, the team has only acquired two players: Walter Benitez, a free transfer from PSV Eindhoven, and Borna Sosa, a defender acquired from Ajax for £3 million.
In addition, Palace is pursuing Manuel Akanji, a 30-year-old Swiss defender from Manchester City, with an estimated value of £15 million.
Pino became a member of Villareal in 2017 after progressing through the youth system at Las Palmas.
Following his senior league debut in 2020, he played a key role in Villarreal’s fifth-place finish and subsequent Champions League qualification last season, contributing four goals in 34 league matches.
Pino has scored three goals in 15 appearances for Spain since his debut in 2021.
