Strengthening Pakistan’s Global Diplomatic Footprint

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has arrived in Vienna, Austria, for a two-day official visit aimed at deepening Pakistan’s ties with international organizations and strengthening bilateral relations with Austria. This marks the first visit by a Pakistani premier to Austria in more than 30 years, underscoring the importance of the trip.

Upon arrival at Vienna International Airport, the Prime Minister was warmly received with a salute by the Austrian Armed Forces. He was accompanied by a high-level delegation including Ishaq Dar, Attaullah Tarar, Syed Tariq Fatemi, and Amna Baloch.

During his stay, Shehbaz Sharif is scheduled to meet with top officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). These meetings will focus on enhancing cooperation in nuclear safety, industrial development, and counter-narcotics efforts.

In addition, the Prime Minister will hold talks with Austrian Chancellor Christian Stocker to review Pakistan-Austria relations. Key areas of discussion include trade, investment, and cultural exchange, with both sides expected to explore new opportunities for collaboration.

Shehbaz Sharif described Vienna as a “city of history, culture, and global diplomacy,” emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to building stronger partnerships with both Austria and international institutions headquartered there.

This visit represents a significant step in Pakistan’s diplomatic outreach, reinforcing its role in global cooperation while opening new avenues for economic and strategic collaboration.
