In a captivating West Asia Baseball Championship final held in Karaj, Palestine triumphed over defending champions Pakistan, securing the title with a dramatic extra-inning victory.

The match concluded with a 5-4 score in favor of Palestine after the regulation nine innings ended in a 4-4 tie.

Palestine initiated strongly, gaining a 1-0 advantage in the opening inning and extending it to 4-0 with an additional three runs in the third.

This initial pressure placed Pakistan at a disadvantage, but the Green Shirts demonstrated resilience throughout the contest.

Pakistan managed to score one run in the fourth inning and added another in the top of the fifth, reducing Palestine’s lead to 4-2. Nevertheless, Palestine responded with a run in the bottom half, maintaining their advantage.

Pakistan staged a remarkable comeback in the ninth inning, scoring two runs to level the score at 4-4, thus pushing the game into an extra inning.

Despite their renewed momentum, Pakistan was unable to capitalize during the extra frame, while Palestine managed to score a decisive run, securing a historic victory and claiming the West Asian title.

Earlier in the day, host nation Iran defeated India in the third-place playoff.

Notably, Pakistan had enjoyed a successful run leading up to the final, finishing atop Group B with impressive performances.

Their campaign commenced with a 10-6 victory over Bangladesh, followed by a dominant 14-0 win against host nation Iran. In the semifinals, Pakistan overwhelmed their rivals India with a commanding 14-1 triumph.
