Pakistan U16 Volleyball Team Dominates Saudi Arabia at Asian Championship

THAILAND: Pakistan’s U16 volleyball team extended its triumphant streak in the Asian U16 Volleyball Championship, achieving a decisive 3-0 victory against Saudi Arabia in their recent Group D match held on Saturday.

The Pakistani squad showcased their growing assurance and unity on the court, overpowering Saudi Arabia with set scores of 25-14, 25-13, and 25-11.

Notable performances were delivered by Junaid, Wahab, Saeed Mukhtar, and Faizan, each making significant contributions to the team’s success.

Following these consecutive wins, Pakistan has successfully secured their position in the subsequent stage of the competition.

They are scheduled to compete against Chinese Taipei, the bronze medalists from 2023, in their concluding group stage match on Sunday.

Previously, Pakistan initiated their campaign with a commanding straight-sets triumph over South Korea, defeating them with scores of 25-16, 25-19, and 25-8.

That game saw outstanding displays from Talha, Junaid, Wahab, Irfan, Faizan, and Sanan.

The Asian Volleyball Confederation is organizing the tournament, which is being hosted across Nakhon Pathom and Ratchaburi in Thailand, featuring sixteen teams allocated into four groups.

The top four teams from this tournament will directly qualify for the 2026 FIVB U17 World Championship. This championship is set to expand to include 24 teams, following its debut last year with just sixteen.

Pakistan finds itself in Group D, alongside Chinese Taipei, South Korea, and Saudi Arabia. The tournament structure involves a round-robin group stage, where the leading two teams from each group will progress to the classification rounds.

The semi-finals and final are slated for July 19, during which the continental champions will be determined.
