Pakistan’s Foreign Office has stated that it is closely monitoring the defense cooperation between India and Israel, particularly any systems or platforms that could be used against Pakistan. Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabi addressed concerns regarding the expanding defense ties and agreements announced during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Israel. Andrabi emphasized that Pakistan is aware of the potential threats these ties pose to its security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and regional peace.

He reiterated that Pakistan maintains strong military preparedness to counter any Indian aggression. The spokesperson’s remarks come in the wake of agreements made during PM Modi’s visit, which included discussions on joint development, production, and technology transfer in defense, as well as exploring a free trade agreement.

During Modi’s visit, both nations agreed to collaborate on ‘horizon scanning’ to enhance India’s strategic capabilities through joint research, capacity building, and AI-driven tools. Additionally, Israel committed to allowing 50,000 additional Indian workers into the country over the next five years, primarily in manufacturing sectors.

Prime Minister Modi also expressed India’s support for efforts to establish peace in West Asia, mentioning the Gaza peace plan. The visit occurred amidst heightened tensions in the region, with the US deploying naval forces near Iran.

Modi and his Israeli counterpart pledged to combat terrorism together. This visit, Modi’s second to Israel as prime minister, focused on strengthening strategic cooperation in various fields, including technology and energy, with a commitment to joint development and technology transfer. The leaders also highlighted cooperation in civil nuclear energy and space.

While Israeli officials described the partnership as robust and expanding, with Prime Minister Netanyahu calling Modi “more than a friend, a brother,” some Indian political figures expressed concerns. Priyanka Gandhi, a leader from India’s Congress party, had hoped Modi would address the civilian casualties in Gaza during his address to the Israeli parliament. Modi, in his speech, emphasized India’s support for all efforts contributing to durable peace and regional stability.
