Commerce Minister Explores Industrial Cooperation with Bangladesh
Commerce Minister Jam Kamal Khan engaged in significant discussions with Bangladesh’s Adviser for Industries, Adilur Rahman Khan, in Dhaka on Thursday. The talks centered on exploring opportunities for industrial collaboration, joint ventures, and the exchange of knowledge between the two nations.
During the meeting, both the minister and the adviser highlighted the importance of leveraging their respective economic and industrial strengths. The aim is to mutually benefit both countries by addressing concerns related to food security, enhancing value in the food industry, and harmonizing industrial technology, according to an official statement.
Discussions involved the potential exchange of expertise across various sectors through reciprocal delegation visits and knowledge sharing initiatives.
Kamal underscored Pakistan’s strong interest in participating in Bangladesh’s evolving industrial sector through partnerships, collaborative projects, and mutual investments.
He emphasised the necessity of a shared strategic view to foster a supportive economic environment conducive to industrial expansion.
He concentrated on value-added industries to stimulate revenue generation and socio-economic progress, while also acknowledging Bangladesh’s advancements in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, textiles, and information technology.
Bangladesh’s adviser acknowledged his nation’s advancements in industrial progress and recognised the increasing industrial demands within Bangladesh.
The adviser indicated a strong interest in exchanging knowledge and collaborating industrially, pinpointing leather, shipbuilding, sugar, agro-processing, and SMEs as possible areas for collaboration.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen bilateral trade and industrial growth through cooperative endeavors.
Jam Kamal Khan arrived in Bangladesh on Wednesday for a four-day official visit from August 21 to 24, 2025.
The purpose of the visit is to reinforce bilateral trade relations and enhance economic partnership between Pakistan and Bangladesh, as per the official statement released on Thursday.
Upon his arrival in Dhaka, Kamal was welcomed by Bashir Uddin, Commerce Adviser of Bangladesh, and Imran Haider, Pakistan’s High Commissioner.
During his visit, the commerce minister is scheduled to conduct high-level meetings with his Bangladeshi counterpart, senior government officials, and prominent business leaders to discover new opportunities for cooperation in trade and investment.
Earlier this month, Jam Kamal and Bangladesh’s High Commissioner to Pakistan, Iqbal Hussain Khan, explored increased bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, logistics, and industrial connections.
