NDB Appoints Rajiv Ranjan as Vice President

The New Development Bank (NDB), a financial institution established by BRICS nations, announced on Monday the appointment of Rajiv Ranjan as its vice president. Ranjan is currently an executive director at India’s central bank.

According to an official statement, Ranjan’s term as vice president will be for a duration of five years. The NDB website also indicates that he will simultaneously hold the position of chief risk officer.

Rajiv Ranjan has been with the Reserve Bank of India since 1989. He has been serving as an executive director and a member of the monetary policy committee since May 2022.

The New Development Bank was founded in 2015 by the BRICS countries: Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. Its primary mission is to mobilize financial resources for infrastructure projects and promote sustainable development across emerging markets and developing nations.
