NBA Expands European Presence with Regular-Season Games
The NBA will broaden its reach in Europe by staging a minimum of six regular-season contests over the upcoming three years. This initiative demonstrates the league’s dedication to connecting with its international fanbase, as announced on Wednesday by NBA Managing Director George Aivazoglou.
The series starts with a match between the Memphis Grizzlies and the Orlando Magic in Berlin on January 15, 2026, followed by another game in London on January 18, 2026.
First NBA Regular-Season Game in Germany
The Berlin game holds particular significance as it will be the first NBA regular-season game ever held in Germany. Although the country has hosted 13 NBA games since 1984, this marks a new milestone.
Looking ahead, the schedule includes games in Manchester and Paris during the 2026-27 season, with Berlin and Paris again hosting games in the 2027-28 season.
Confirmed Venues
The arenas selected for these events include Berlin’s Uber Arena, London’s The O2, Manchester’s Co-op Live, and Paris’ Accor Arena.
“The announcement of regular-season games in Europe for the next three seasons demonstrates the substantial momentum and demand for NBA basketball in France, Germany, the UK, and throughout the region,” Aivazoglou commented.
He further added, “We anticipate welcoming the Grizzlies and the Magic to both Berlin and London, aiming to engage fans, players, and the respective local communities through these games and affiliated events.”
The complete NBA schedule for the 2025-26 season is scheduled for release in August. Additional details regarding teams and dates for the 2027 and 2028 European games will be communicated prior to those seasons.
This long-term strategy highlights the NBA’s ongoing efforts to cultivate its international following and present top-tier basketball to a global audience.
