Cricket Fan Asked to Remove Pakistan Jersey at England-India Test

A British-Pakistani cricket enthusiast attending the fourth Test match between England and India at Old Trafford in Manchester was reportedly instructed to remove his Pakistan cricket team jersey.

Farooq Nazar, a journalist employed by a Pakistani religious channel, expressed his shock and distress following the incident, stating it occurred due to venue security personnel.

Nazar recounted that security officers demanded he either change his shirt or exit the stadium. When he requested a written directive, additional stewards were summoned. The sole justification provided was that his attire “might irritate Indian fans.”

A recording shows Farooq Nazar requesting written instructions from security and asserting he had not committed any offense. Despite his pleas, security personnel remained unmoved.

“Can you provide me with a written order? I purchased a ticket. I require it in writing before I comply,” Nazar stated in the video. “I won’t conceal the jersey as I am representing my nation. You may remove me forcibly. Everyone is welcome to film your actions towards me. I paid for my ticket. No Indian supporter voiced any concerns about my attire,” he conveyed to the assembled security staff.

The journalist mentioned that a formal grievance has been lodged with the English Cricket Board and local authorities regarding the situation. As of now, the club has not released any public statement. He verified that no Indian supporter had lodged a complaint against him with the security personnel.

Nazar was escorted from the premises due to his refusal to take off the jersey.

This episode transpired on the final day of the fourth Test match between England and India. The contest in Manchester concluded in a draw, leaving England ahead 2-1 in the five-match series.
