Lewis Suggests Parker Has Best Shot Against Usyk

Lennox Lewis, the former heavyweight champion, believes Joseph Parker stands the greatest chance against Oleksandr Usyk, according to recent reports.

Usyk achieved a fifth-round knockout against Daniel Dubois at Wembley Stadium the previous Saturday, marking his second time as the heavyweight undisputed champion.

The Ukrainian fighter has made history as the first boxer to secure undisputed champion status for a third occasion, previously holding the title at cruiserweight (2018) and now at heavyweight (2024).

With victories over notable opponents like Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury, Usyk’s dominance has sparked speculation about whether he can be defeated.

Lewis has identified Parker as a potential challenger to Usyk’s reign.

Lewis stated, “I believe Joseph Parker currently possesses the strongest opportunity. It seems they’ve been sidelining Joseph Parker.”

He added, “Joseph Parker is ready for his next fight, so he should be given the chance. Joseph Parker has been awaiting this opportunity. I’m unsure why he hasn’t received it yet. I think he should be next in line.”

Parker has demonstrated impressive form, securing a win against Martin Bakole in two rounds and triumphing over former American champion Deontay Wilder and Chinese heavyweight Zhilei Zhang on points within the past year and a half.

As the WBO mandatory challenger, Parker is next to face Oleksandr Usyk. The World Boxing Organisation has formally requested Usyk to defend his title against the New Zealand boxer.
