Jobe Bellingham Transfers to Borussia Dortmund
Borussia Dortmund has secured Jobe Bellingham from Sunderland on a permanent transfer. The clubs confirmed the move on Tuesday, marking another chapter for the Bellingham family in the Bundesliga, following Jobe’s brother Jude’s footsteps.
While the officially promoted Premier League club did not reveal the financial specifics, reports from the British media indicate that Dortmund will initially disburse 33 million euros (approximately $37.70 million) for Jobe. He is slated to participate in the upcoming Club World Cup.
Sunderland acknowledged that the agreement represents a record-breaking fee for the club and incorporates a sell-on clause. Dortmund announced that the Under-21 England international has committed to a five-year contract.
The purported transfer fee would position 19-year-old Jobe as Dortmund’s second-most expensive acquisition, following Ousmane Dembele, who was acquired for 35 million euros back in 2016.
Jobe departs Sunderland after a two-year stint, during which the club secured promotion to the Premier League by triumphing over Sheffield United in the second-tier Championship playoff final, finishing fourth overall.
“The time has come for me to express my gratitude to the devoted supporters of Sunderland, who have been a driving force throughout my two remarkable years in red and white,” Jobe stated.
In a separate message, he conveyed: “I am thrilled to join Borussia Dortmund and compete for titles alongside this esteemed club… I eagerly anticipate donning the black and yellow jersey at the FIFA Club World Cup.”
Jude Bellingham previously played for Dortmund for three seasons before transferring to Real Madrid for 103 million euros. There, he secured LaLiga and Champions League titles in his debut season.
