Pakistan and China Reaffirm Commitment to Regional Stability Amid Tensions
Amidst ongoing tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi following the Pahalgam incident, Pakistan and China have restated their firm dedication to maintaining peace and stability in the region.
This development occurred as Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar engaged in a phone conversation with China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, during which he provided a briefing on the current regional situation.
The two high-ranking diplomats also advocated for the promotion of mutual respect and understanding, while expressing opposition to unilateral actions and policies of hegemony.
In addition to China, Pakistan has been in contact with allied nations, including Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Egypt, to inform them about the circumstances resulting from the tragic incident in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIJOJK), which led to the loss of 26 tourists’ lives.
New Delhi has connected Islamabad to the incident without presenting any substantiating evidence and has initiated a series of restrictive measures to diminish ties, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, the cancellation of visas for Pakistanis, and the closure of the Wagah-Attari border crossing.
Pakistan has reciprocated India’s actions with similar measures and has cautioned about the potential suspension of the Simla Agreement, as well as the closure of its airspace to flights originating from India.
Islamabad has refuted any involvement in the incident and has proposed its participation in a dependable and open inquiry.
According to a statement from the Foreign Office, Islamabad and Beijing have agreed to sustain close communication and collaboration across all levels to further their shared objectives of peace, security, and sustainable advancement within the region and beyond.
The Deputy Prime Minister firmly rejected India’s independent and unlawful actions, along with its unsubstantiated claims against Pakistan, the statement added.
Acknowledging deep appreciation for China’s steadfast and consistent backing, the Foreign Office indicated that Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s solid dedication to the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China and the shared vision of a cooperative strategic partnership that prevails in all circumstances.
He also underscored Pakistan’s resolve to enhance bilateral collaboration across all sectors.
