Chelsea Adjusts Training in Chester Due to Extreme Heat
CHESTER: As American cities ready themselves to host the Club World Cup, soaring temperatures have prompted Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, to modify the team’s training schedule. This adjustment comes as they gear up for their Group D encounter against Esperance de Tunis on Tuesday.
Chelsea held a condensed training session at Subaru Park, an open-air stadium located in Chester, Pennsylvania, just outside of Philadelphia.
Following their 3-1 defeat against Flamengo the previous week, The Blues are aiming to make a strong comeback.
After Tunis’s 1-0 victory over LAFC in their previous match, both teams are level on three points as they head into their final game.
Maresca noted that the intense heat makes proper training ‘impossible,’ leading to the team’s abbreviated session before the Tunis match.
Manager’s Remarks
“The weather conditions make it nearly impossible to conduct full training sessions. Our current focus is on conserving energy for the game. This morning’s session was extremely brief,” Maresca stated.
He further added, “We are familiar with each other from last year. I always try to avoid making excuses and strive for honesty. This isn’t about excuses; it’s about facing reality. It would be an excuse if we complained about the heat when it wasn’t actually hot.”
“However, when it is hot, it presents genuine difficulties for effective training. Nevertheless, we are here, committed to giving our best effort, and determined to win tomorrow’s game. That’s all we can say and do. As for the training session, a normal session is simply not feasible.”
