FIFA Club World Cup: Prize Money and Final Preparations
The victor of the FIFA Club World Cup is set to receive a substantial reward of $40 million.
Chelsea’s manager, Enzo Maresca, appealed to supporters on Sunday for their backing at MetLife Stadium during the FIFA Club World Cup final against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG).
In the semifinal match, PSG delivered a decisive 4-0 victory over Real Madrid, while Chelsea secured their spot in the final by defeating Fluminense with a score of 2-0.
Chelsea anticipates backing from local fans in the United States, along with those traveling to New Jersey from various parts of the globe.
Ahead of the highly anticipated final, Maresca emphasized the importance of fan support, stating, ‘We need their support.’
Maresca reiterated, “The message is that we need their support.”
He added, “The team has earned the trust of the supporters, as they secured a top-four finish in the Premier League, triumphed in the Conference League, and progressed to the Club World Cup final. It’s been a remarkable season.”
For Maresca, reaching the final is significant; however, he considers the shift in perception surrounding Chelsea’s performance as the greatest accomplishment.
“For me, the biggest achievement of this season is that exactly one year ago nobody was talking about Chelsea and our football,” he added.
“They were talking about a big squad and other things. Now nobody is talking about those things. Now when people are talking about Chelsea it is about the way we win games, and personally that is the biggest achievement of the season.”
The runner-up in the FIFA Club World Cup will be awarded $30 million.
