Doan Joins Eintracht Frankfurt with a Five-Year Deal

Japanese forward Ritsu Doan has officially committed to Eintracht Frankfurt, inking a five-year contract extending until 2030, as announced by the club on Thursday.

The 27-year-old midfielder previously spent three seasons with Freiburg, amassing an impressive record of 26 goals and 23 assists across 123 appearances. He has also earned 57 international caps for Japan.

The Frankfurt-based club concluded their previous league campaign in third place, securing a spot in the upcoming Champions League tournament.

Markus Kroesche, Eintracht’s board member for sport, emphasized Doan’s demonstrated abilities and wealth of experience, highlighting their importance in achieving future objectives.

“Ritsu Doan has displayed considerable talent in the Bundesliga over the past several years and offers the kind of qualities that will support our ambitions,” Kroesche stated.

He pointed to Doan’s technical skill, pace, and mentality, honed through his international experience with Japan, as factors making him an ideal addition to the team. Kroesche expressed his excitement about securing Doan’s signature, citing his standout performances during his time at Freiburg.

Before his time in the Bundesliga, Doan played for four seasons in the Dutch league with Groningen and PSV Eindhoven.

Doan’s arrival marks Frankfurt’s second major acquisition this summer, following Jonathan Burkardt. These additions aim to compensate for the departure of Hugo Ekitike, who joined Premier League champions Liverpool.

Frankfurt is scheduled to play its final pre-season match on Saturday, August 9th, against Premier League side Fulham.
