Douglas Luiz Joins Nottingham Forest on Loan

Brazilian midfielder Douglas Luiz has finalized an agreement with Nottingham Forest, arriving from Juventus on a season-long loan. The deal includes a conditional obligation for a permanent transfer next summer, according to the Premier League club.

Luiz, a Brazilian national team member who competed in the Tokyo Olympics and secured a gold medal, previously played for Aston Villa. His move to Juventus involved a five-year contract valued at approximately 50 million euros ($57.94 million), where he spent one season.

During his time with the Turin side, Luiz made 27 appearances.

In a statement, Douglas Luiz expressed his enthusiasm about joining the club and his optimism for the future. “I am really happy to be here; it’s a big club, and I decided to come here because I can see the ambition the club has,” Luiz stated.

Douglas Luiz began his professional career with Vasco da Gama in Brazil. In 2017, he transferred to Manchester City but did not play for the team. He was subsequently loaned to Girona for two seasons before his move to Villa in 2019.

As the club prepares for the Europa League this season, they have invested over £140 million in acquiring seven players this summer. Recent acquisitions include England Under-21 striker Arnaud Kalimuendo, who joined on Monday for a reported initial fee of £26 million, midfielder James McAtee from Manchester City for approximately £30 million, and winger Omari Hutchinson from Ipswich Town for £37.5 million.

Forest, who finished seventh in the Premier League last season, will play against Crystal Palace on Sunday.
