BYD Commences Construction of Cambodia Vehicle Plant

BEIJING: According to the Chinese Embassy in Cambodia, electric vehicle manufacturer BYD initiated construction of its passenger vehicle factory in Cambodia on Monday.

The new facility, situated in the Sihanoukville Special Economic Zone, spans 120,000 square meters. It is designed to produce 10,000 vehicles annually and is projected to be operational by the close of this year, as stated by the special economic zone on its WeChat account on Monday.

BYD reportedly secured nearly 1,000 orders for its new energy vehicles in Cambodia during the first quarter.
