INNOCSR Inaugurates Sustainable Brick Factory in Thatta
INNOCSR, a prominent Korean firm specializing in sustainable construction solutions, has officially launched a Good brick production facility in Thatta, near Karachi, Pakistan. The establishment of this factory represents a key advancement in INNOCSR’s objective to revolutionize the South Asian construction industry through the creation of environmentally friendly, unfired bricks.
The Good Bricks Thatta project is financially backed by the Korea Environmental Industry & Technology Institute (KEITI) and receives support from several organizations, including UNIDO, the European Union, Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), Reserve Carbon, Sindh People’s Housing for Flood Affectees (SPHF), HANDS Pakistan, and NED University of Engineering & Technology in Karachi.
This joint initiative underscores the increasing dedication of both international and local participants to promote sustainable construction methods within Pakistan.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by representatives from the EU, UNIDO, KOTRA, SPHF, and HANDS, alongside local academics and community leaders. Attendees were presented with an overview of Good Brick technology and toured the factory, complete with a practical demonstration of the eco-friendly brick manufacturing process.
Good Bricks and its key stakeholders and local partners gather for the inauguration of the Good Bricks factory in Thatta.
“We are delighted to broaden our presence in South Asia and provide an environmentally sound alternative to conventional brick production. This facility in Thatta is a vital stride toward our aspiration of developing cleaner, more durable, and more sustainable construction practices,” stated Sam Yoonsuk Lee, CEO of InnoCSR.
The Good Bricks Thatta factory is set to commence operations by supplying bricks to SPHF beneficiaries for the reconstruction of buildings impacted by floods in Sindh province. These include residential properties and a community center. The endeavor seeks to facilitate post-disaster recovery and serve as a blueprint for upcoming sustainable construction ventures throughout Pakistan.
“The Sindh Government, via SPHF, is spearheading the construction of 2.1 million residences—making it the world’s most extensive housing project. As part of its dedication to sustainability, the Government is backing eco-conscious technologies and is presently working with Good Bricks to pilot green building solutions,” added Khalid Mehmood Shaikh, CEO of SPHF.
The Good Bricks System employs a unique soil stabilizer and eliminates the need for coal or firing, thereby greatly diminishing carbon emissions and atmospheric pollution.
Furthermore, this expansion leverages InnoCSR’s strategic investment from ADB Ventures, which bolsters the company’s scaling of clean brick manufacturing across South Asia.
