Luis Diaz to Undergo Medical Examination Amidst Bayern Munich Interest

Bayern Munich has reportedly reached an agreement for Liverpool forward Luis Diaz, offering €75 million (£65.5m) inclusive of additional incentives, according to British media sources on Sunday.

Reports indicate that Liverpool initially declined Bayern’s opening bid of £58.5m earlier in the month. However, the Bundesliga champions have since increased their offer, with Diaz reportedly keen on a move to Germany.

Considering the circumstances, Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, chose not to field Diaz during Saturday’s 4-2 defeat against AC Milan in Hong Kong.

It is suggested that Liverpool has granted Diaz permission to travel from Asia to Europe in the coming days to undergo a medical evaluation.

Since joining from Porto in January 2022, Luis Diaz has become a key player at Anfield. His most productive season with Liverpool was the previous campaign, where he scored 17 goals across all competitions and played a crucial role in Liverpool’s title-winning season, where they secured the top spot with a 10-point lead.

Initially, Diaz, who had two years remaining on his contract, expressed interest in joining Barcelona, and the Catalan club also showed strong interest, aiming to complement Lamine Yamal and Raphina in their attacking lineup.

However, it’s claimed that Liverpool rejected Barcelona’s offer of approximately £65m for Diaz, opting to explore other options.

This summer, Liverpool has reportedly spent around £250m on acquiring Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez.

The Reds are also reportedly interested in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, though securing his transfer would involve a significant fee.

Bayern secured their 34th Bundesliga title in the last campaign but were eliminated in the last 16 of the German Cup and the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Diaz could provide an additional attacking option for Munich, particularly with Jamal Musiala expected to be sidelined for an extended period due to a leg fracture and dislocated ankle sustained at the Club World Cup.
