Forest Acquires French Striker Kalimuendo

Nottingham Forest has officially announced the acquisition of French striker Arnaud Kalimuendo from Stade Rennais, a Ligue 1 team. The contract extends for five years, according to the Premier League club’s statement released on Monday.

While the precise financial details of the transfer remain undisclosed, British media outlets indicate that Forest has invested approximately 26 million pounds ($35.19 million) to secure the 23-year-old player.

Kalimuendo progressed through Paris St Germain’s youth system and gained experience during two loan periods at Lens before his transfer to Rennes in 2022. He has a record of scoring 40 goals in 112 appearances across all competitions, with 21 goals in 65 appearances for Lens.

During the 2024-25 season, Kalimuendo showcased his abilities with 18 goals and four assists in 34 matches for Rennes. He also represented France, contributing to their silver medal win at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

“Joining a team with a strong season last year and a rich history is a proud moment for me,” Kalimuendo stated.

“I am prepared for the challenge and bring valuable experience. My previous season was successful with goals and assists, but I am driven to achieve more and reach a higher level here.”

Nottingham Forest’s spending in the transfer window has reached around 147 million pounds on seven new players, including three additions made in the last three days.

Arnaud Kalimuendo joins James McAtee, a midfielder from Manchester City acquired for 30 million pounds, and Omari Hutchinson, a winger from Ipswich Town signed for 37.5 million, at the City Ground.

Forest, who concluded the previous season in seventh place, commenced the new campaign with a 3-1 victory against Brentford on Sunday. The Midlands club is also set to participate in the Europa League, marking their first appearance in a European competition since 1996.
