Pakistani Footballer Goes Missing in Norway During Youth Tournament

Amanullah Rauf Baloch, a footballer from Lyari who traveled to Norway to participate in the Norway Cup Street Football Championship, has gone missing in Oslo, his club, Muslim Hands, reported on Wednesday.

According to the Muslim Hands club, Amanullah, a native of Lyari, Karachi, disappeared from the team’s camp on the very first day of the event.

A representative of the Muslim Hands club stated that the Lyari-based footballer was not present at the tournament’s opening ceremony.

Amanullah’s passport is currently held at the Pakistani embassy in Norway, and relevant authorities within Pakistan have been duly informed regarding the matter.

It is worth noting that recently, two Pakistani athletes also went missing in Garemay while participating in the World University Games.

The Pakistani Street Children Team, competing in the Under-17 category, participated in the Norway Cup under the banner of the internationally recognized charity, Muslim Hands.

Over 2,000 teams from 30 nations, spanning various age groups, competed across 90 different fields.

Notably, three teams from Pakistan were scheduled to compete in the Norway Cup. The Better Future Pakistan Under-15 team from Lyari participated in the event, achieving an undefeated record and securing the trophy in their respective category.

In a thrilling final match, Better Future Pakistan triumphed over Norwegian club Gjovik-Lyn, FK with a score of 2-0.

Furthermore, the Lyari Football Academy, a third team from Karachi, did not participate in the Norway Cup despite receiving Rs183 million in financial assistance from the Sindh government, owing to delays.

Sardar Muhammad Bux Khan Mahar, Sindh’s Sports Minister, has indicated the possibility of reclaiming the grant provided to the team.
