Pakistan Suffers Heavy Defeat in AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifier

The Pakistan women’s football team experienced a significant setback on Sunday, falling to a 8-0 defeat against Chinese Taipei in the AFC Women’s Asian Cup Qualifiers in Indonesia.

Despite featuring nine international players, the national team struggled to mount a defense against a strong Chinese Taipei side, which holds a considerably higher FIFA ranking.

With just a pair of domestic players in the starting XI, the team’s reliance on foreign talent was evident.

Chinese Taipei asserted dominance from the beginning of the Group D match, applying persistent pressure on Pakistan’s defense.

Goalkeeper Zeeyana Jivraj made a number of early stops, but the inexperience of the defensive unit allowed the opposition to gain control.

After scoring three goals in the initial half, Chinese Taipei added an additional five in the second, including four in the final minutes.

This loss represents Pakistan’s largest ever in women’s international football and underscores the existing challenges within the nation’s football system.

Reports indicate that the players have not received compensation for past tours, such as those to Singapore and Saudi Arabia. These financial issues continue to affect player morale and overall performance.

Pakistan is set to prepare for their upcoming qualifier on July 2 against hosts Indonesia, which will be followed by a match against Kyrgyzstan on July 5.
