AC Milan Finalizes Acquisition of Pervis Estupinan

AC Milan has officially announced the acquisition of Pervis Estupinan from Brighton & Hove Albion in a transaction valued at £17 million, inclusive of potential add-ons, according to international reports released on Thursday.

The Ecuadorian international has committed to a long-term contract extending until 2030.

Since joining Brighton from Villarreal in 2022, Estupinan has recorded five goals in 104 appearances.

The Ecuador defender played a crucial role in the team’s historic qualification for European competition in 2023, where they reached the last 16 before being eliminated by Roma.

Last season, the left-back participated in 34 matches as the Seagulls secured an eighth-place finish in the Premier League.

Brighton’s head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, acknowledged Estupinan’s impact during his tenure with the club.

He noted that the left-back is pursuing a new challenge in his career.

“I have appreciated collaborating with Pervis, and he has significantly contributed to the club during his time here,” stated Brighton head coach Fabian Hurzeler.

“He has reached a point in his career where he desires a fresh challenge, and this chance to compete in Serie A provides him with that opportunity.”

The 27-year-old initially signed with English club Watford in 2016 but did not receive any first-team opportunities.

Estupinan rose to prominence with Villarreal and was a key member of the squad that won the 2021 Europa League final against Manchester United before his transfer to the south coast.

Estupinan is anticipated to fill the void left by Theo Hernandez at AC Milan, following Hernandez’s move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal earlier this summer.
