Nkunku Joins AC Milan After Chelsea Stint
AC Milan has officially announced the acquisition of forward Christopher Nkunku from Chelsea on a five-year deal. This move marks a fresh start for the French player following a less-than-impressive period in the English Premier League.
While the specific financial terms remain undisclosed, British media outlets suggest the transfer fee is around €42 million ($49.17 million).
Nkunku’s performance in England did not quite reach the anticipated heights after his celebrated performances in Germany. The new signing will aim to rediscover his stellar form with his new club.
Nkunku had signed a six-year contract with Chelsea in June 2023, after demonstrating outstanding versatility, creativity, and scoring ability in the Bundesliga.
However, his previous achievements did not fully translate to success in England, where he faced challenges due to injuries and inconsistent playtime. During his time with Chelsea, Nkunku managed to score 18 goals across 62 appearances.
Despite the personal challenges, Nkunku contributed to Chelsea’s successful season, during which the team secured victories in the FIFA Club World Cup and the UEFA Conference League.
Nkunku’s arrival in Milan is part of the team’s rebuilding efforts, especially after they finished in a disappointing eighth place in Serie A last season.
He joins other summer additions such as Ardon Jashari, Samuele Ricci, and Pervis Estupinan, as Milan seeks to regain its prominence both domestically and in European competitions.
Milan anticipates that Nkunku’s attacking talent and extensive experience will have a considerable positive influence. This transfer to Italy presents him with a renewed opportunity to rejuvenate his career and replicate his previous top-tier performances. Nkunku will be wearing the number 18 jersey.
