Karachi residents should brace themselves for another round of chilly weather, as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has issued a forecast predicting a further drop in temperatures. The city is already experiencing a cold wave, with the mercury expected to dip even further over the next few days.
From now until January 19, 2025, nighttime temperatures in Karachi will range between 10°C and 12°C. These colder conditions are expected to be accompanied by strong winds, especially on January 17, which will intensify the chill across the city. During the daytime, Karachi’s temperature is likely to remain mild, with a maximum of 26°C, but the cooler evenings and mornings will persist.
At present, the city’s humidity stands at 70%, with northeast winds blowing at a speed of 11 km/h. Citizens are advised to prepare for the ongoing cold spell and take necessary precautions, especially during the early mornings and nights when the temperatures are expected to be at their lowest.
This cold wave will not be confined to Karachi alone. Across Pakistan, the weather will remain cold and dry for the next 24 hours. Areas in Punjab and Upper Sindh are predicted to experience dense fog during the early mornings and nights, while the mountainous regions of Balochistan are likely to witness isolated rain and snowfall. The rest of the country, including Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, will also continue to experience chilly conditions, with intense cold predicted for the higher altitudes.
As winter conditions tighten their grip, the PMD recommends that residents in affected areas take precautions against the cold, particularly in regions with fog or snowfall. The current cold wave is expected to last for several more days, making it important for everyone to stay prepared and stay warm during the colder weather.
